Christmas Island Part 2

Kiritimati (pronounced [kiˈrɪsmæs] was very friendly to visitors. Only 279 passengers were able to land before the tide was too low for the tenders. 221 of us were trapped 5 hours until the tide was high enough to get us off.

London is at the base of the top tooth.

Locals kept us entertained while we were waiting.

Singers, mostly a capella. Young traditional dancers
Boys playing the pipes. They hit the ends of the pipes with trimmed sandals. There were about 20 boys taking turns. They were quite good. One song was Jingle Bells (it was Christmas Island).
We collected donations for the children of Fanning Island.  They were donated to the children of Christmas Island instead since we couldn't land on Fanning Island.
