March 15, 2024 I took a tour to the ancient forest with kaurie trees that were hundreds of years old. These pine trees develop a scalloped bark and are huge. Small-leafed vine covered some of the trunks We stopped at a historical village on the way back

New Zealand -- Aukland Zoo

March 14, 2024 Three of us went to the Aukland Zoo. It is very well done with lots of room for the animals.  Mating Galopagos turtles. Think very slow motion. 

Auckland, New Zealand -- Tiri Tiri Island

March 13, 2024 The entire Island is a preserve. They are slowly restoring the native bird population. The island is a 90-minute high speed ferry trip from Aukland. View from the island's far shore Robin Tui. The tui is noted for the two feathers on its throat and its ability to imitate a wide range of sounds Fruit dove. This is a very large bird . View of the Aukland skyline. People bungee jump off of the tower! We had a Maori show in the evening since we stayed the night.
