Auckland, New Zealand -- Tiri Tiri Island

The entire Island is a preserve. They are slowly restoring the native bird population. The island is a 90-minute high speed ferry trip from Aukland.

Tui. The tui is noted for the two feathers on its throat and its ability to imitate a wide range of sounds
Fruit dove. This is a very large bird

We had a Maori show in the evening since we stayed the night.

February 23, 2024 At first they canceled the port causing us to eat the major part of our prepaid birding guide. Later, they changed plans and landed us there at lunch time. The town has many metal sculptures  If you look closely at the picture above, you can see this female splendid fairy wren The lichen on the rocks is this vivid orange color  There is a colony of little blue penguins on both sides of the tender pier. They must climb this slope each evening at dusk
