My primary destination was Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne. This is an in-city preserve. It is surrounded by a 10-foot fence to keep out introduced predators. The fence extends 2 feet underground and has a cap to keep them from digging under or climbing over.

From the shuttle, I took the funicular to the top. There is a free shuttle to the sanctuary. I walked down through the botanic garden to the ship's shuttle meeting point.
